People always want new things. They are engaged in knowing what lies beneath the sea waters, the animals, flora and fauna etc. In order to fulfill their eagerness certain technologies are developed to know about deep sea secrets. NOAA has been dedicated to this work for over more than 20 years. Its Undersea Research Program (NURP) has been formed with that objective only. It has been dedicated in developing, creating, and modifying deep sea technologies so as to get knowledge about it. It has enabled the scientists to carry out their researches easily. Its technology and techniques has helped for more advanced research. The various technologies used in deep sea are as listed below.
Scuba diving is the first process by which scientist do deep sea study. It is very exciting as well as helpful in carrying out research process. Its meaning is that it stands for self controlled underwater breathing equipment. It enables the driver to carry all the equipments for breathing and gases. It has two breathing tools one is open circuit and other is closed circuit that is recently introduced.
Scuba diving has limited the scientist's effort as it can support only for specified period. But saturation diving has more increased productivity and supports for longer investigation. A deep sea habitat has specialized in providing living space for the team involved in under water examination. It enables the researches to carry out extensive research and study the under water facts in large to support their study.
The technology has so developed so that people are physically sent to deep sea to carry out detailed research. They can be taken to any depth depending on the submersible and not have to use any diving method. There are different submersibles which are used by different countries to study about deep sea. They are Pisces IV, Pisces V operated by Hawaii and west pacific regional center which can dive to 2000 meters. JSL is owned and operated by the HBOI and has been leased to NURP scientists. The Delta submersibles i s owned and operated by Delta Oceanographic. The Alvin is owned by US who has diving capacity of 4500 meters.
ROV are the robot operated deep sea technique in place of human being going under water. They are controlled by the pilots and can operate faster. The robots carry different cameras and other tools to carry specified task at the same time. The main benefits of this are reduction in human risk, absolute underneath times, affordable technology and also it can be deployed in harder and difficult climates.
AUVs are previously programmed vehicle to carry different works. It's the most recently used vehicle for deep sea research. It is independent on surface controlled by computers, battery powered and operated to carry out various survey tasks. It does survey and notes down various measurements in its pre programmed data.
Yes, it's true that we cannot directly drink sea water but it can be converted into drinking water. The process is called as desalination. In order to meet the shortage of drinking water this can provide the wontedly needed drinking water. It can serve people and can cover the need for the water.
