Lava Point Campground is open as weather allows, typically from May through September. Situated at 7890 feet above sea level, the campground can be reached via the Kolob Terrace Road, 25 miles (45 minutes) north of the Virgin. It takes approximately 80 minutes to drive to the campground from the South Entrance of Zion Canyon. Six (6) primitive campsites are available for reservation. The campground has pit toilets and trash cans, but no running water. Vehicles longer than 19 feet are not permitted.

Reservation Info: Lava Point Campground is open as weather allows, typically May through September. Reservations are required and can be made up to 14 days in advance. First-come, first-served sites are not available. Be sure to make reservations before beginning your trip - cell service is limited in the park.
Regulations Overview: Lava Point campground cannot be included in the itinerary of any Wilderness backpacking trips. If you are planning a backpacking traverse hike (going from Kolob Canyons south and across Zion Canyon) you need to make reservations for each night in designated Wilderness campsites and camp areas. Vehicles longer than 19 feet are not permitted on the road to the campground. Other key regulations are listed below. Check-in is typically available any time after 12:00 pm. - Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. - Generators may only run between the hours of 8 am - 10 am and 6 pm - 8 pm. - Hammocks, slacklines, or any other items may not be attached to trees or park structures. - All food and waste must be properly stored or disposed of. - Tents and vehicles must not be on vegetation. - No fires are permitted when fire restrictions are in place.
